August 22nd: "Festival of Choirs, USA"
Port Allegany native, Jerry Goochee, is planning a "Festival of Choirs, USA." The event will take place in Port Allegany on August 22, 2009. All churches within a 60 mile radius of Port Allegany will be invited to participate in this choir competition. Choirs may sing traditional hymns or comtemporary worship songs. HELP IS NEEDED TO GET READY FOR MONKEY ISLAND
“Monkeys on Doors”: This is a ministry that all can do. We need a) people to cut out monkeys and prepare them to be handed out and b) we need people to walk through neighborhoods to hang monkeys on the doors. Once again, we want to reach every house in Port Allegany and the surrounding area.
Decorating for Monkey Island: Monkeys are already looking out from trees and other places. We will be putting up the main decorations for the sanctuary and hallways beginning this coming week.
We will meet for prayer on Wednesday evening at 7 pm as usual. At 7:30”ish” we will set up the Monkey Island Hut in the sanctuary and some additional decorations in the foyer. Thursday evening Frances and Debbie will be in charge and decorations will go up “wherever they say” if you like decorating, please join us.
Cookies and other goodies: Ginger Andreano is our “Snack Coordinator” (Yes, we have given her a title) We are serving a variety of snacks this year. We need 50-60 dozen cookies; we need fruit; jello jigglers in monkey or space shapes, and we need varieties of juices. There is a signup sheet on the welcome table in the foyer for you to list your preferences.
