Today we read and consider Paul’s “doxology” at the end of chapter 11.
That doxology cannot be fully understood without reading Romans 9-11 as a whole unit.
Romans 9-11 cannot be understood without reading chapters 1-8 (which also ends with a doxology).
AND Romans 1-11 cannot be fully understood without considering it in the context
of what follows in chapters 12-16. However, we are going to try.
This week, Paul shares His heart. The setting is Romans 9-11 where Paul shares two thoughts:
1. that all Israel will be saved AND
2. that the whole world has been bound over to disobedience so that ALL may receive mercy.
And then Paul shares this incredible doxology.
My prayer is always that we will hear God’s voice and that He will give us “ears to hear” and
“hearts to perceive” what He desires to say to His people. May our sanctuary be “transformed” into a “house church in Rome” where people still gather to hear Jesus speak to us with mercy and with grace.
