PACS: You all have been so gracious and giving in the past to PACS. At Thanksgiving and Christmas there are very special needs. Currently PACS is in need of several items: Soups, Cereal, Cake Mixes, Frosting, Baking Supplies, and Blankets. If you are able to help, please place your items in the container marked PACS in the church foyer.
Community “Meals on Wheels”: is asking for volunteers to assist with taking meals to people in need. Questions? Please speak with Debbie Beckley
Sunday Evening Study Group: We are examining alternative religious groups: Jehovah’s Witnesses and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints…beginning with Jehovah’s Witnesses. We will review from last week: Who Is Jesus? We will review our study of John 1:1, and what it tells us about Jesus. We will also answer the questions: Is Jesus God or a created “spirit creature?”…Is he eternal or was he Michael the Archangel? Is he equal to, or lesser than the Father? We meet from 6-7pm for study and discussion; we take a break from 7-7:25pm for food and fellowship; and then we meet for wrap-up/study/discussion from 7:30-8pm. All are welcome anytime.
The Women’s Study and Care Groups: This is a wonderful group of ladies who meet for study, discussion, prayer, and fellowship.
There are two opportunities during the week to meet. The evening group meets on Monday evenings at 7pm. If you cannot meet in the evenings, then there is also a day group of special ladies. They meet on Friday mornings at 10am. Both groups meet in the church boardroom. They are studying another Chip Ingram DVD from Romans chapter 12 and you are always welcome.
5th Sunday Fellowship: We are having our 5th Sunday Fellowship on the 3rd Sunday of November Next Week! The theme is “Warm, Comfort Food.” There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer. You have a choice to bring dishes to share from TWO (2) of 4 categories: Main Dish (Soup; Chili; Stew); Breads; Salads; Desserts. This is going to be GREAT! Plan on attending on the 15th…and don’t forget to bring your shoeboxes
Operation Christmas Child: Once again this year we are taking part in Operation Christmas Child. Ingrid and Malari Lapp will be providing all you need to know about his wonderful ministry to provide Christmas Shoeboxes full of wonderful little gifts for children who otherwise would receive very little for Christmas. It’s easy. Just get a shoebox and fill it with Christmas presents, marking it for a boy or a girl. Shoeboxes will be due the 15th of November.
Thank You: Debbie and I wanted to thank you all for your thoughtful and gracious gift last week, in honor of Pastor Appreciation month. I thought by being gone at the end of October, I could avoid Evelyn and standing up front Debbie and I are the ones who are privileged to be here. We sincerely thank you for your care and kindness and are deeply grateful.
Youth Group Outing: The youth group begins their first of several outings coming up. Immediately following the morning service, the youth will meet with Alan and Ruth Long in the parking lot of the church for an outing to the Long’s farm. They will have lunch, go on a hike, and watch a movie. You may either go out to the Longs on your own, or they are glad to provide transportation. It should be a great time
Veterans’ Day: The flags that grace our church property are placed there in honor and memory of those who have sacrificed so much in military service so that we may enjoy peace and freedom, and the quality of life that we have. We are deeply grateful to them. Thank you to so many in our congregation for your participation today and you may retrieve the flag honoring your loved one, following the morning service.

VETERANS' DAY
For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire people to work in his vineyard. He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard. About the third hour he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. He told them, “You also go work in my vineyard and I will pay you whatever is right.” So they went. He went out at the sixth and ninth hours and did the same thing. About the eleventh hour …he went out…and found others…and said to them “you also go work in my vineyard.” When evening came the owner of the vineyard said to the foreman, “Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.” The workers who were hired at the eleventh hour came and each received a denarius. So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each of them also received a denarius. When they received it they began to grumble against the landowner. “These men who were hired last worked only one hour,” they said, “and you have made them equal to us who have born the burden of the work and the heat of the day.” From Matthew 20:1-16
